Colts Reinstall Anthony Richardson as Starting QB for the Remainder of the Season

The Indianapolis Colts have announced that Anthony Richardson will return as their starting quarterback, starting with Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets, head coach Shane Steichen confirmed. Drafted fourth overall in 2023, Richardson is expected to hold the position for the rest of the season.

Veteran Joe Flacco, who has filled in as starting QB the past two weeks, struggled with six turnovers in back-to-back losses to the Vikings and Bills. While Flacco’s performance didn’t directly influence the decision, Steichen noted that Richardson has shown improvement in practice, particularly in his attention to detail.

“We made it clear he’s our starter,” Steichen said, commending Richardson’s commitment and growth. “He’s made strides over the last couple of weeks, and it’s my job to help him reach the standard we need.”

Richardson’s performance so far includes 958 passing yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions. As the Colts sit 4-6, the team remains in contention for the AFC playoff race, trailing the division-leading Texans by two games.
